I seen people giving this home plans a bad review saying it didn’t have all the details they were expecting about building a house....well let me tell you something...it has beautiful houses and tells you the square footage..and if you decide to build that house..YOU DO HAVE TO ORDER THE DETAIL PLANS IN ORDER TO BUILD THE HOUSE INCLUDING THE COST TO BUILD AND MATERIAL LISTS!!!
LOTS of home plans to pick from. The only thing I wish was that it would be organized a littler better. An index by various needs would be helpful, like plans by lot size, or plans by sq. footage, or plans by how many beds or baths. Good thing about not having that to narrow down the plans you'd look at is that you do get to look at a whole lot of plans that could give you some other ideas.
This book had great plans for a wide variety of home sizes and styles. There were also advice sections every 80-100 pages which gave the reader a break from looking at so many plans, which tended to all run together after a while. The sections were on topics such as landscaping, color, types of trim work, fireplace technology, and even choosing a sink! Even though we have chosen a custom build, and a design not in this book, it will remain useful for ideas as construction proceeds.
Good book with lots of plans and information. However, it could be better organized. For example, a section on single story homes and a section on 2-story homes. Each section could be further broken down by progressively listing plans by square footage or other major features. As published, you're flipping a lot pages to find what you're looking for.
We bought this book to scan through and see if we could find a home and plans that work for building a family home. We probably didn't find the right home in here, but I would recommend this book as a way to see lots of styles of homes, view floor plans and dimensions, and overall hone in what type of home you might want to build. The price is small compared to the overall project. While you can go online and scan through hundreds of plans for free, try this book too. Also throughout the book there are some tips interspersed about building and style.
I like it, I am sure everyone can find at least few plans they would love. Very nice pictures. It does not fall appart which is a big plus in a book you might want to come back to again and again.
Horrible book. No organization. No way to search by size, style or any other feature. Plans are just randomly between the covers. If you do find a plan you like don't lose the page because there is no way to find it again without going page by page. I don't understand how it got such good reviews.
