Review

Many years ago when I had to undergo major surgery, my friend gave me 8 different little embroideries on cream calico and matching variegated thread to occupy my hands and keep my mind busy whilst I recuperated. I finished them over about 7 weeks and eventually sewed them into a gorgeous table runner, which I love to this day.I recently received a complimentary ecopy by one of Australia's foremost patchwork and quilt designers, Gail Pan. Gail has recently published a pretty little companion book for quilters who also love to embroider. It's called Patchwork Loves Embroidery, hand stitches, pretty projects and is a delightful book to have in your library.Gail has been designing patterns since 2003 and has a worldwide following of enthusiastic embroiderers. Her gentle and delicate designs are very attractive, slightly learning towards naïve embroidery, but not over the top by any means.Gail has a knack of combining gorgeous colours and colour schemes with a professional touch, so that takes the guess work out of which colours will look best.In this collection of full sized patterns Gail includes wall hangings, totes, table runners, little quilts and lots, lots more. A number of the patterns can be mixed and matched so you really get a pretty good bang for your buck with this publication.I like that Gail has taken the time to describe the simple fancy embroidery stitches that are used in this book, and her photo images and diagrams are very clear and easy to understand.I can thoroughly recommend this publication to all quilters. --Judie Bellingham, Bella Online blog, June 2014

I've used this so much and made some very sweet & easy projects for family & friends. The best small projects ever :) for an evening to make & to complete & they look like the photos, well written & the best ideas you get from just reading it. It gets the mind thinking on all the things you can easily make without a lot of time. It's a real value no matter what price you find. I paid $26.00 and well worth it.Amazon has used books & I get them all the time and they are like new and some of Amazons used book dealers give you the same great shipping deals too @ bargain prices, we love Amazons great deals & pricing and so fast shipping always.Beautiful illustrations and step by step directions and takes very minimal amounts in fabrics/scraps for the projects also in COLOR from cover to cover. Can you tell I do love this book. I don't have any projects to show because they have been sent to my family & friends. But can say see the cover I made that and it looked hard/no it wasn't. Looked identical to the cover photo you see on the book. You'll find yourself running around your sewing room looking for bits & pieces ribbon/rickrack/lace, fat quarter & buttons too for the projects. That woman can do project books very well.It has all the bells & whistles.

This book as some very cute little to medium projects combining quilting and embroidery. perfect for that little extra to make your project special. the instructions for the quilt are a little lacking for a beginner. The embroidery is mostly simple stitches and there is a sample in the beginning of the book. I might suggest if you are a beginner you might want to get one of Janice Vaines Embroidery books as she has excellent instructions on embroidery stitches.

I honestly LOVE every project in this book! There are 15 projects in all and all the projects include some embroidery...some are big like quilts and most are small, like bags and pincushions. All the patterns are full-sized so just trace and go. The author also recommends floss. If you are a fan of embroidery and sewing then this book is perfect for you! I am looking forward to starting many new projects from this book!

Living up to Australian standards, famous for combining lovely patchwork and embroidery, this is a must for anyone keen on sewing.. A charming book with lots of lovely things to make, emphasis is placed more on embroidery than patchwork, and as the title says, it is full of pretty projects. A good buy.

I belong to a group of people who stitch and quilt, and get together every week. Two other people went out and bought this book after leafing through it, everyone loves it, and we've made some nice projects out of it.

A great kindle purchase. I was able to go to my laptop to print out the designs.

Love! this book! It is all I wanted and More! Easy to read and follow directions, full size patterns to easily copy from. I've completed 2 full projects and look forward to doing most.

I have both of Gail Pan’s books (this one and Patchwork Loves Embroidery Christmas designs). I have made a few projects from these books and enjoy all of her designs.
