Nikki Meyer is an author to watch!I came across this gem, Game for Anything, while trolling Kindle for something good to read on South Africa - and what a lucky find it was. As a transplanted South African who managed to spend a bit of time in Botswana and dozens of trips to Kruger from Jo'burg, it was like going home again.Ms. Meyer's descriptions of life in Kruger Park and her experiences living in close proximity to many of Africa's Big Five makes for fascinating and edge-of-your-seat reading.I bought Game for Anything on Kindle, but have just ordered it in book form to add to my library.Do yourself a favour - order your copy today!Game for Anything
I loved Nikki's stories about het life, her passions - the bush and cooking - and the opportunities that same her and Gerrit's way largely because of their work ethic. An easy read. I am looking forward to her next book and an update on what life holds in store for them in the African bush.
I loved this book. It was easy to read and written from the heart. Nikki's knowledge is amazing and she describes the African bush so well - I could almost smell it!She tells us how the rangers and bush workers live and love - their heartbreak when floods destroy their lives and their joy when things go well. Altogether a book I will encourage others to read to get an honest insight to living with flora and fauna at its best!Can't wait for the next one!

This book gives an interesting view of a life lived away from the City and mostly in the Bush. Many people dream of a life away from what they know and by reading this book you will get an idea of the reality of life for someone that made that choice.
If you're looking for a fresh and inspiring story, get this book. Game for Anything is a very cool true story about a young woman who changes the entire course of her life by venturing into the African bush. It's something I can never imagine myself doing, but am truly inspired reading her brilliantly told story. As a mother, the aspects about her life with her son hit home. It's cool to see how you can share feelings and experiences with another mother who has lived such a different life. The bio hints at a sequel, and I really look forward to reading future works from this talented author.
I felt this book deserved five stars just for its setting; the book ended up living upto the initial reaction it invoked in me.Game for Anything is a visual documentary narrated in words. It Nikki Meyer's own story of how she, an urban girl, discovered the bush, fell in love with it and made a career out of working in the bush.Nikki's prose is devoid of sentimentality,which I like, and this makes the bush the central character in her story. Her story is not just about the untamed bush, but is also about life in a still-patriarchical society that is changing that bit slowly. The courage and determination of Nikki to forge a life for herself in such a society, in the bush, comes across.Game for Anything is a great first effort by Nikki Meyer and I eagerly await her second book.
A well deserving 5 out of 5For a first time author, I have to say this book reads really well, and not at all as a first book written, it reads as though the author ([author:Nikki Meyer|6913551]is a well seasoned writer.I can not say what a great relief it was to pick up a book that is newly published and really a joy to read. This book is not just for one gender of the population to enjoy, but equally so for all.The book starts with Nikki going to work at a nice "museum" (i use the word museum very loosely here as not to give any spoilers), and then take off to Botswana for more thrilling adventures there, even being a little of a "fugitive" and then to our great park here in South-Africa.Giving a great narrative on what life is like to work in these parks. Plus a added extra as being full of surprises, excitement, joy and some points of sadness.Game for Anything is a really good new perspective in the lives of those in our National Parks that we take for granted and most of the time we do not even acknowledge them, but these people are truly extraordinary people living magnificently extraordinary lives.They are people who's lives we should envy, I know I do after reading this book.To get more to the point, I have made my review intentionally very vague as this is a book that should form part of your library, and not your digital Kindle library.My advice is buy the hard copy of this book and I can grantee you will not be disappointed.
